Editorial Policies

Aim and Scope

The mission of the journal "International Business" is to facilitate the conduct of scientific research focused on a wide range of pressing issues in international management and entrepreneurship. The journal serves as a platform for knowledge exchange and experience sharing between Russian and foreign representatives of business and academic circles.

Open Access Policy

The journal provides direct open access to its content based on the following principle: free open access to the results of scientific research contributes to the increase of the global exchange of knowledge.

The open access policy is in line with the definition of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) and means that articles are available in the public domain on the Internet, which allows all users to read, download, copy, distribute, print out, search or link to the full texts of the said articles, scan them for indexing, transfer the articles as software data or use them for any other lawful purpose without any financial, legal or technical barriers, except for those which are inseparable from gaining access to the Internet itself.

Peer-Review

Each article submitted to the International Business Journal undergoes the reviewing procedure. It is carried out on the principle of a two-sided anonymous examination (“double-blind peer review”): the author of the article is unknown to the reviewers, and the reviewers are unknown to the author.

If the submitted article does not meet the minimum requirements of the journal (in terms of its subject, level of scientific expertise, or formatting), the editors have the right to reject it by sending a reasoned refusal to the author. Articles accepted by the editors are reviewed by at least two reviewers.

The review period is 1-3 months.

The members of the Editorial Board, the experts appointed by them can act as reviewers. Reviewers are chosen among competent researchers in the corresponding field of knowledge. Reviewers are notified that the manuscripts sent to them are the authors’ intellectual property and are classified as confidential information.

The reviewer may recommend an article for publication; recommend an article for publication after revision taking into account the reviewer’s comments, reject an article, stating the reason for such a decision.

The  authors of the reviewed manuscripts are notified of the decision made by the reviewers.

Reviews are kept in the editorial office for at least 5 years.

 

Publishing Ethics

The editors of the International Business Journal adhere to ethical principles at all stages of the publication process. We abide by the Code of Ethics of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and strive to follow its recommendations. Commitment to the principles of ethical behavior is expected of all the parties involved in the publication process, namely, of authors, editors and reviewers.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Editorial Board

The editors evaluate an article based solely on its academic merit and scientific relevance.

The founder of the magazine has no right to interfere in the process of making decisions on publication. The decision-making process is separated from any short-term, political and other considerations.

The editors should not use any unpublished information in their own research without the written consent of the author. The editors protect the confidentiality of the individual information received from the authors and request the reviewers to follow this principle.

The editors do not cancel the decision to publish an article, unless the publication reveals a violation of law or ethics.

If any misconduct is suspected or when any complaints and allegations of misconduct are received, the editors take action based on COPE recommendations. This applies to both published and unpublished materials.

The editors may reject a manuscript on their own, without peer review if it is not considered to be relevant to the aim and scope of the journal or if it does not meet the required level of quality. This decision must be made impartially, based solely on the content of the article. The criteria for making such a decision are clearly explained to the author.

Editors and reviewers should distinguish between criticism of misconduct and criticism of the limitations and shortcomings of the scientific study. Scientific discussions are the best way to improve the quality of scientific research and should be encouraged.

The editors, the members of the Editorial Board can submit their own scientific research for publication in the journal.  The evaluation of their submissions should be no less impartial than that of other authors.

Ethical Guidelines for the Authors

The authors provide an objective justification for the scientific significance of their research work. Review articles are published in case there are original conclusions and/or recommendations.

The authors guarantee that the articles submitted to the editors are original and that if other works are used in the article, such works are duly indicated. Plagiarism is unacceptable in any of its forms, namely, verbatim copying without reference to the source, paraphrasing without reference to the source, as well as self-plagiarism (if any elements of the article have been previously published, the authors are required to refer to the previous publications). Knowingly providing false and inaccurate information is unacceptable.

The authors guarantee that the articles submitted to the editors are not under consideration in other journals. Submitting an article to several journals at the same time is considered to be unethical behavior, and is unacceptable.

The author submitting an article ensure the consent of all the co-authors (if any) with its final version and with its submission for the publication in the journal

The source of the research funding, if any, should be declared and identified, and its role in conducting the research and/or preparing the article should be clearly stated.

Ethical Guidelines for the Reviewers

Reviewers should agree to review only those articles, for which they have sufficient knowledge and which they can review in due time.

Reviewers refuse to prepare a review if they participated in any work related to the preparation of the article, or in the research described in it.

The reviewer must respect the confidentiality of the review and should not disclose any details of the article or of the review during or after the review process to anyone except those authorized by the Editorial Board (for example, the editor).

The reviewer may not use the information obtained during the review process for his own or others’ benefit, or in order to discredit other persons or organizations.

The reviewer is requested to inform the editor about a possible conflict of interest related to the review of an article, or seek the advice of the editor if he or she is not sure whether the given situation constitutes a conflict of interest.

The assessment is carried out objectively, the conclusions are clearly formulated and reasoned so that the authors can use them to improve the manuscript.

Author fees

Publication in the journal is free for the authors.

The editors do not charge the authors for the preparation, placement and printing of the materials.

 

Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

Unpublished data obtained from submitted manuscripts cannot be used in personal research without the written consent of the Author.

Any information or ideas obtained during the review process and related to possible benefits must be kept confidential and should not be used for personal gain.

Reviewers should do not participate in the reviewing of manuscripts in case there is a conflict of interest due to any competitive, joint and other interactions and relationships with any of the authors, companies or other organizations associated with the submitted work.

 

Borrowings and Plagiarism Detection

The Editorial Board of the International Business Journal, when considering the publication of an article, can check the material using the Anti-plagiarism system. In case numerous borrowings are detected, the editors act in accordance with the COPE rules.

 

Preprint and postprint Policy

During the article submission process, the author needs to confirm that the submitted article has not been published or has not been accepted for publication in any another scientific journal. When linking to an article published in the International Business Journal, the publisher asks to place a link (full URL of the material) to the official website of the journal.

Articles previously posted by the authors on private or public sites that are not related to other publishers are allowed for consideration.

 

Revenue Sources

The publication of the journal is financed at the expense of the founding organization, at the expense of the publisher, by the publication of promotional materials, the publication of reprints, and author's fees.
